Hey. So I'm visiting some family and it's too far to drive. But short flights, 1.5 hours.

I can scrounge up ultra-basic fares, which means no carry on baggage, only a personal item. AKA, a computer bag filled with whatever you choose, that fits under the seat in front.

What would you pack?

Last time I flew I used my Mystery Ranch Gallagator. It fits under the seat just fine.

Toothbrush
deodorant (I'm picky about the brand)
spare eyeglasses
book
empty water bottle to fill after security check
snack
1 underwear
1 pair socks
enough string/line to improvise a clothesline, etc.
and travel packs of:
immodium
benadryl
advil

Anything else I should be able to borrow or pickup upon arrival.

Thanks, I appreciate the input!

All I am allowed is a fat laptop bag that can fit under the seat. I assume they will not charge for the air, and provide a seatbelt; that's it. But as a former solo wilderness backpacker I'm up for the challenge!

That said, I'm not trekking toward Everest. I tend to overpack.
I'm working up a list, and will post it shortly.

While it's less often than previously, I still fly a lot. I normally do two-bag travel, but if I had to do one-bag travel again it would look like this:

  • Technology
  • Toiletries
  • Clothes

For me, the very lightest weight I will go with technology is whatever supporting equipment I need for my phone. So charging cable and earbuds. I'm very likely to add either my 13" MBP or my iPad, along with a compact 120V to USB-C charger.

Toiletries for me means a single quart ziploc for a few liquid essentials (toothpaste, contact lens solution, usually a few other things), disposable contact lenses, deodorant, toothbrush and flossers. Any OTC or prescription meds go in this category.

Clothes are important laugh.
