For a month I've been getting warnings about the equipped.org website. Has anyone else been getting these?

I can reach the website if I use an http connection instead of the standard https connection, but that is not the preferable way to do things.

On Safari (Mac):

-----
This Connection Is Not Private

This website has an outdated security configuration, which may allow an attacker to steal
personal or financial information entered into "equipped.org". You should close this page.

Safari warns you when a website uses TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1, which are not secure. This may allow an attacker to compromise your connection to steal your personal or financial information, ...
-----

On Firefox (also Mac):

-----
Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to equipped.org. Peer using unsupported version of security protocol.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

This website might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported by Firefox.
-----

I get exactly the same message on a PC running Linux, so it's not just a Mac thing.

I get those as well. My opinion is that it doesn't matter much. We're not doing e-commerce here or sharing much in the way of highly sensitive personal data. It just means that what we post is visible to anyone who wants to look.

I hope and assume the database of legacy posts has a trifle more separation from the howling wild predators of the web.

That could include the password you use to log in. Which could be problematic if you are a site administrator.

Also I hope everyone knows that you should not use the same password on more than one site.

My day job is in cybersecurity. Password re-use is bad for you; please don’t do that.

It’s been a while since I referred this issue to Doug, and at that time he had more pressing concerns. I don’t have the access to fix this.

Things have gone bat-guano crazy for me at work; it will likely be two weeks before I will have the availability to work on this. Happy to do that then.
