UK media reports that hurricane Milton has strengthened rapidly and is now category five.
Only a day or two ago, this was just barely a hurricane and was of relatively little concern. But now it is far more serious.

Yup, it's a monster. I hope people are smart enough to get out of the way.

BUT: the other slow-moving and deadly serious disaster that seems to be ignored in the media cycle is the catastrophic flooding in North Carolina, hurricane-caused but far inland from the usual hurricane smash points. The damage to infrastructure is incredible and people are in desperate situations.
