Fascinating story. It all started out as a day hike.

So many unanswered questions. I wish the article had mentioned if anyone was looking for her, or eventually would have started a search. I wonder what gear she has with her.

Another situation where a Personal Locator Beacon could have been a real lifesaver, and if nothing else would have shortened her struggle.

Yes, rescue reports usually seem that way - if you piece together enough news stories you can fill in some (but not all) of the blanks (and also find contradictions).

Per [4] - first reported missing by her parents on Saturday. Other reports say "missing for 2 days".

Per [1] - spent two nights in the wilderness in shorts in 20 degree weather. Doesn't seem like she'd have survived without some sort of warm clothing/shelter.

Here a few more news stories that fill in some of the blanks, but precious little on the ETS end of things - no interview with the survivor that I can see, as of yet.

Looks like there is a pic of her in the fox news article.

Sat on the opposite side of the river, in just a vest.

Bigger pic in

“She had spent two nights out dressed in a manner that wasn’t appropriate for spending a night up in the canyon there. She was dehydrated and she had taken a fall. And it was obvious she had a severe break in her leg. It was visibly offset.”

So lucky, and guess it didn't rain that weekend.
