Has anyone seen Pixar's latest feature, Turning Red? For me, it was a trip down memory lane. No, I never turned into a red panda, but Mei Lee, the protagonist, turned thirteen in 2002, making us close in age. It was heavy into the teenage culture of that time. It was that which brought me back to better times.

What is your take for those who did see the movie but are not a part of that generation?

I watched several videos talking about this movie. Several YouTubers compared Turning Red to the 1985 flick Teen Wolf that they are essentially the same movie. A teen becomes a party animal (pun intended) but takes place in different generations.

I've heard it's good. Before Covid-19 I saw a movie in the theater about once a week or every other week. But I have yet to make it back to the theater to see anything.

I gave up on theaters long ago. We just watch at home. Several years back we upgraded to a 4K 70" TV - about the same price as two movie theater tickets and a popcorn wink - and that is serving us well. I used to have a high end surround sound system, but over the years the subwoofer gave out and one of the front mains developed a static sound. Rather than repair those, I bough a speaker set from Monoprice (inexpensive). For movie/TV surround sound, you'd be amazed at how well that Monoprice set performs (I have them hooked up to my higher-end home theater receiver, which still works just fine). I was nothing short of impressed - for movie sound that is, which is dominated by speech and sound effects. For audio-only recording playback, the Monoprice spreakers suck. But I listen to audio in a different room than my home theater, so everything is good.

Back to the original topic - I have seen Teen Wolf (that was Michael J. Fox wasn't it?), but not Turning Red. Haven't even heard of Turning Red for that matter. I'll check to see if I can stream it anywhere, and maybe give it a shot.
