Anybody tried the Leatherman Bond? It's sort of an update to the original PST, non-locking, knife law friendlier(?).
Sort of an upgrade to the Kick, which I like, mostly for the pliers. Lightweight, slim, light, yet surprisingly functional.

Do you actually want a non-locking knife? Or are you forced to only have that kind because of some law? I wasn't familiar with the Bond, but I checked it out on Leatherman's website. It looks like an old school Leatherman. Nothing wrong with that. I am surprised that it would have a non-locking blade however. Unless it is specifically targeted at countries that embrace those laws (useless and dangerous IMHO).

It's definitely targeted for some countries laws, sort of.
Locking knives here need a reason to be carried. So if wanted to EDC in public a knife needs to be non locking.
The Bond is somewhat still ambiguous though, due to wording of the law, something like "readily closed at all times". And having to open the handles to close the knife may disqualify it.

I would be on the hunt for an original Leatherman PST. Nonlocking blade and very handy. I would also consider disabling the liner lock on a Skeletool, which is a very satisfactory EDC item.
Oops! You do have to open the handles of the PST, although it is not much of a problem

Leatherman has been busy mixing and matching tools on established design platforms, and offering factory customizations. One thing I like is the slimming-down factor (weight and thickness). That's why I mostly carry a Rebar or a Kick these days even though I own the big boys. I would be on the hunt for an original Leatherman PST. Actually they reissued the PST due to popular demand. Not cheap though. I would personally be looking at eBay instead. https://www.leatherman.com/heritage-pst-553.html

Do you actually want a non-locking knife? I don't mind them as much as some people. I don't trust the lock on any folder, so I assume they could fail and use them accordingly. I find that closing the handles on a Leatherman provides enough safety for me. It's certainly safer than a SAK, since it can't actually close on your fingers. I once modified the fine edge blade on an original Supertool to defeat the lock (which had a very good lockup, but was a pain to close).

The Rebar EDC doesn't have a blade.
