This is kind of a silly question, but why does the Sebenza come with that little key fob sized lanyard?

I found a description of how to tie the knot on http://www.chrisreeve.com/ , but can't figure how what value there is in a little key fob looking thing.

The knot lanyard on the Sebenza serves to make removal from ones pocket easier. Easier for the carrier of the knife, and for other people also. It also extends the grippable portion of the knife if the user wishes to "choke down" on the knife (i.e. first and middle finger wrapped around butt of knife and ring and pinkie finger wrapped around the lanyard knot). It also is a way to carry enough cordage to make a wrist loop lanyard without being in a loop all the time. Loops snag on things easily. The knot might snag on something but not as easily.

The knot has also become a bit of a trademark for CRK. Not that they hold any exclusive right to it.

That little knot can be deceiving.

Un-tied, the lanyard is 18 inches long (that's 45.7 cm for our friends using the metric system) <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I've used mine to secure my Sebenza to my wrist or to a belt loop on my pants.

I thought it very interesting (kinda cute) that CRK will retie the knot for you if you ship the knife to them, though I'm sure you'd want a loaner for use in the mean time. Its those little things that add up to customer satisfaction.
