Lots of "what ifs" in this story. I wonder about food storage and general cleanliness and odor control. One must bear down in this area in order to avoid unbearable injuries and pain....

We have to bear in mind that practicing poor camp hygiene can be as detrimental as losing one's bearing in the wilderness. But I agree with you all that without more information, we just cannot fish for the full story. So I don't feel there is more we can say -- I'll get back to reading my novel, Milan Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being.
