Without mentioning the name of it, describe some of your favorite movies and the rest of us will have to guess the title. Better yet, throw in a twist, but keep it accurate, to make it more challenging. I'll provide an example: A man is about to commit suicide after his uncle hands a large sum of money to their worst enemy. However, he changes his mind when he sees a dead man in the river. Believing that the dead man is still alive, the protagonist decides to rescue him. Answer: It's a Wonderful LifeThe following are four more movies. Try to guess what movie they are. - Police are after the daughter of a woman who, fraudulently, ran up huge credit card charges.
- A mafia boss is holding a hostage in exchange for an antique record player. The sheriff seeks the help of a sheepherder, animal control officer, and a motorcycle stuntman to mount a rescue.
- A woman uses kids as tools of revenge after her parents are murdered.
- A man goes sailing after his dad, who had left his family, pays a surprise visit.

Here's more my style of movie. A quote should give it away:
"Guess you broke into the wrong $%*^& rec room, didn't ya!" Tremors (1990) Jeanette Isabelle

This is a cute parlor game, but what in the dickens does it have to do with survival?? We could return to a silent forum with next to zero posts, if that would be better. This is the "Around the Campfire" subforum after all. "A place for Chit Chat about life or subjects of interest other than Survival or Emergency Preparedness."

Well I heartily agree that I wish the traffic on this very fine forum was heavier, but idle chatter just for the sake of traffic volume goes nowhere.
How about w debate on the best survival themed movie of all time? or maybe the worst survival movie of all time (lots of contenders) or the worst survival stereotypes perpetuated by the cinema?

Well, it's not my sort of game. I feel no obligation to play, and neither should anyone else. But really, it does no harm.
I think we all agree that maintaining a positive psychological state is a crucial element in survival. We are all in a long-drawn-out survival situation with no discernable end point. It's reasonable to argue that silly fluff and idle chatter have a place in creating community and supporting a positive mindset. My 2c.

A big guy with anger issues meets a homeless girl who has trouble focusing, is a little "scattered" and does not remember anything about her past. She dreams of being a racer and demonstrates that she has a knack for it when the big guy helps to get her hands on a go-kart.
An event unblocks her memory and she realizes that she is a person of privilege.

Louis, a young einstein living in an orphanage, dreams of having a family. Wilbur, a boy about the same age, desperately seeks the help of the boy genius. After some convincing, the two boys go to Wilbur's house. Louis meets Wilbur's mom, a zoologist. Being a science wiz, that's something Louis appreciates. Louis meets some of Wilbur's other family members: a fashion designer, an artist, and others who succeed in their respective fields. More than that, they don't take themselves too seriously.
The zaniness continues with a food fight over dinner. Louis is having the time of his life. But he is really over the moon when, after finding out that he's an orphan, Wilbur's family offers to adopt him. Not only has Louis dreamed about being adopted, but to the child prodigy, a family of scientists and creative people would be the best family on the globe.
His ecstasy takes a sharp nosedive when this family realizes who he is. This family is besides themselves with shock. Very apologetically Wilbur's mom tells Louis how sorry she is but he has to go back to where he came from.
Crushed and confused, Louis asks what's the big deal. He has no idea what's going on. One minute this family was about to adopt him and the next they tell him that he needs to go back to the orphanage. Devastated, Louis, of course, runs off.
In the end, Louis learns who he is and what happened the night that his mom dropped him at the doorstep of the orphanage.
