Like many of us, I have been drifting to cordless tools recently. I have stuck to one brand, so that the batteries are interchangeable.

I am beginning to look on my accumulating batteries as a useful power sources to power other small appliances - lights and cell phones, primarily.

Is there some sort of gadget that I could fasten to a cordless battery so that i could transfer juice from the battery to another appliance? I would think there would be a definite market for such an item, although it would probably have to be specific for each different brand of cordless...

Thoughts, anyone??

There are adaptors to provide USB power via powertool batteries. Think most brands have one.

Eg Dewalt's

And if want 120v output, from 4 powertool batteries...

What brand tools are you using? For example, like DeWalt, Ryobi makes one... https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/150-watt-battery-power-inverter

Thank you so much, Ren!

DeWalt happens to be the brand of cordless tools I buy; I have already placed the order!

But wait: there's more!!!

There are a number of battery adapters that will allow a specific brand to be powered by other brands batteries Scroll all the way down:

https://www.google.com/search?q=powertoo...280&bih=578

As might be expected, Youtube has a number of videos on the topic:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=interchangeable+battery+power+tools

Some of the brands have a battery replacement adapter with a cord attached to let you convert some battery powered tools to AC power:

https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tnpla/44461317?cid=ppc-google-New+-+Power+Tools+-+PLA_sToIU3t0E___164110813665_c_S&mkwid=sToIU3t0E%7cdc&pcrid=164110813665&rd=k&product_id=44461317&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2ZOk9Oz47AIViLLICh0RIgAyEAQYBSABEgJnKfD_BwE

The country of origin appears to be what you might guess, and reviews are, shall we say, uneven.

Most cigarette lighter USB adapters will accept 12-24 VDC input. So as long as you are clear on the polarity of the connection points of the cordless tool battery, a phone charger could easily be jury-rigged together.

I use ryobi power tools, cordless, and have been pretty satisfied. I like the 12v charger that’s available in case of power outages. Happy to learn that a small inverter is available to charge cellphones and the like.
