Anyone have a nifty way to tie a length of paracord together to create a lanyard? I'm trying to find a way besides having a ridiculous and annoying knot.

There are many different ways but I guess this is one of the most popular and very easy.

How does that differ from a Hangman's Noose?

It's all in the name, if you think about it what's a hangmans noose, other than a big body lanyard?

I have to admit, most knot diagrams to me are gobbledegook - its very hard to tell which way is up.
The only one I could follow, albeit with a little bit of concentration, is this one. I hope it helps.

Yeah, but don't you think you think it's a little presumptuous of Chris Reeve to take a knot that's been around for hundreds of years and name it after himself? Or does he really think he invented it?

Paracord keychain type lanyards are common usung athe standard square braid. This will give you a couple of short lengths.
Also slatts rescue belt

I knot tell a lie. Get some shrink tubing as used in wiring , stick both ends of paracord inside, carefully warm with your prefered method of firemaking.

a small note - a hangman's noose is created with 13 winds. Most people do not use more than 5 or 6 in a lanyard.
