Some interesting info regarding food expiration dates. I know I've often used stuff well beyond the "Best By" date.

Sadly they don't elaborate.

I guess it's because metal is fully sealed? Whereas glass has bungs and rubber seals? Dunno.

In my experience foods with a high acid content such as tomato sauce or sauerkraut do better in glass than in metal cans. I've had a few rust through in metal. (Granted, some well after the 'use by' date.)

Atleast for "canning" jars, eventually the seal can fail. I had to throw out most of a batch of pickles after the seals failed years after they were canned.
