Another story of survival in the snow, but at the terrible cost of an amputated limb.

I'm glad he made it. But honestly, this is how small decisions and small mishaps cascade into a life threatening situation. I'm saddened when I think of how a few key items in his pocket could have changed the game.

Wow! That's hard to read, even knowing he survived. I can't fathom going out in alone, especially in winter (!) that unprepared. He's very lucky to be alive.
