Well, I'm familiar with Benson's work, and he isn't a sesnationalist. His stuff does work, and he is real world. He is a semi-survivalist, and has been many things that a lot of the world finds less than savory, such as a gun runner and merc, and his explosives recipies have moved a stump or ten in my pressence. <br><br>You might want to keep his past in mind in debating about purchasing his material.

I will second the above. His ideas are low tech and simple. They are no-nonsense but hardcore. He makes no attempt to dress up his ideas to make them polictically correct. His books are straight to the point and filled with good ideas. <br><br>His ideas are not for weekend camping. He assumes that you are in a true survival situation and the only rule is personal survival. Mall shopping surburanites may find his ideas too realistic and harsh while people interested in survival will find his ideas of how to use normal items to survive an excellent exercise in "thinking outside the box". <br><br>Typically his books are less than $15 and are worth the money.
