Not that I want to spread false hope, but the Weather Underground app is showing Dorian skirting the coast of Florida on its way north.

Being me, I’d continue preps as though it was coming straight for my home as a Cat.4. Weather reports are always wrong until they’re not.

In North Carolina we prep every year around May, because you just never know if you will get one that year. It is an annual thing we do.

Dorian is now being called as a Cat.5 Hurricane.

We don't know where it is going, so doing the next stage of prep. Freezing bottles of water to help preserve food in refrigerators and freezers longer and securing all yard and porch items. Topping off vehicles with fuel. Charging up all rechargeable batteries and devices. Might look for some more propane canisters and batteries, just in case.

All we (in the peanut gallery) can do is hope the model taking it back into the North Atlantic prevails. Otherwise some community from Florida to Virginia is going to get hit.

Montanero... I'm sure you know this with all of your service out of the country, but for others... if you pre-chill a 5 or 7 day cooler with ice, and then transfer frozen 1 gal jugs(about 4) and then your frozen or chilled perishables, the upright cooler does a better job of preventing cold air spilling out when opened...just don't let the little guys open it... and probably better insulated than your refrigerator... an that is with the inexpensive Igloo/Coleman coolers and not the roto molded Yeti style

during the 2004 9 day power outage, one cooler that was not opened till day 8, still had partially frozen water jugs
