I suspect he was just trying to get through the screening faster by showing he had nothing to hide. If they had suspected anything, they would have taken him to a room and done basically the same thing with 2 or more people in the room for witnesses. While I realize that SOME people just can't function without flying, if everyone that was sick and tired of being treated like cattle would boycot the airlines for a month, and at the same time send a polite letter explaining why, things just might settle down. Buses, trains, rental cars, and cruise lines might not be as convenient, but they would get the job done long enough to prove a point. Sounds kind of like a strike, don't it?
