Hi Oblio,

The Speed hooks are manufactured in the US and can be ordered directly from the manufacturer.
Their CEO is a very friendly person and has helped our scouting group in the past.

Their address is:

Speedhook Specialties, Inc.
Dept. ASG
P.O. Box 11215
Merrillville, IN
46411
Phone: 219-398-7806
Fax: 219-736-2435

Chris is right about their size, they are flat but very long and can't be fitted in a small kit.
Their Military version coming in an very tuff plastic envelope contains even dried artificial bait, and a line to attach the speedhook to instructions etc.
I would personally add some extra nylon wire and a few hooks.

They also make a military firestarting kit consisting of wax+??? impregnated strips of cotton a book of matches, and a piece of thick aluminum foil together with basic firestarting tips on paper,

I have a gillnet that I bought by Brigade quartermakers and it's approx 15' by 5 feet and made of very thin white nylon. It probably won't last forever but I'm shure that I can catch fish with it and birds are also easilly caught in it when hung between a "passage way" between some bushes/trees.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera
