I just want to say how THRILLED I was when I signed in to the forum last night after being away for months and seeing the announcement about the RSK-G2!
I have a mini RSK, and had a mini and regular sized limited edition RSK’s.
HAD bring the operative term...the limited editions were stolen from me.
Now I am looking forward to once again carrying a full size RSK, and with some upgrades!

There is a very long knife forum thread filled with people upset that this new knife's design elements were, well, pirated from <<Fill In The Blank>> without some level of appropriate credit. Sigh.
I too was thrilled to see the new knives rolled out to take the void created by Benchmade's decision to stop production of the RSK Mk1's and have no doubt that Doug Ritter did whatever was appropriate and legal to produce the knives.

Considering the very obvious similarities to the Benchmade Griptilian and RSK Mk 1, additional credit is hardly necessary. The blade design was/is DR’s, the patent is up on the Axis lock and the upgraded lock parts and handle scales make this a great follow-on to the original.
My only question is who will do the heat-treatment on the blade?

My only question is who will do the heat-treatment on the blade? The Knifeworks page tells us the knife is manufactured by Hogue in the USA. Also “The blade is cryogenically processed to achieve a hardness of HRC 61-62 for an optimum blend of edge-holding and toughness.” I also found this at bladereviews.com: “In 2009, Hogue began their collaboration with custom maker Allen Elishewitz. Allen provides the designs and apparently also oversees at least some part of the manufacture of the knives. Whatever they are doing, it’s being done right because in the short time span Hogue has been making knives they have already earned recognition for their extreme attention to detail and high level fit and finish. No other knife company ships a knife with a polished edge like the kind found on every Hogue blade – many sold for well under $200!”

Thanks. I knew Hogue was the manufacturer but didn’t know about their relationship with Allen Elishewitz — that’s good to know.

Thanks! The heat treat is outsourced, as it is with virtually all the major U.S. knife manufacturers. It's about the only part of the manufacturing process that Hogue does not do in-house. As to who exactly, that is proprietary information, thanks for your understanding WRT that. Having owned and carried a bunch, now, of your knives, I am very confident that you and Hogue will get this right.

I’m just glad to have this available as an option again!
And with the back order, it seems a lot of other people are as well!
