The above is a summation of manufacturer's recommendations for battery storage. I use rechargeables almost exclusively, both Minh and lithium-ion, and I try and keep them dry, cool, and used in regular rotation.

I had terrible luck trying to store alkaline batteries in the frige - they always leaked, spoiling the ice cream and cherry pie.
