It's hard not to see this thread as political in light of the events happening in that part of the world. From the news I gather that the Palestinians have a different name for the founding of Israel -- Nakba, meaning the Day of the Catastrophe. This appears to indicate a very different experience that is at the heart of the unrest and deaths over there over the last few days. As I learned more about it, this matter became quite apparent to me as a political one. Since it is not the purpose of our forum to engage in political discussion, I move that we delete this thread.
I concur too. It's impossible to learn about the region and not see it as a catastrophe for the palestinians. Best we move off this subject. I've a jewish wife so don't bother with knee jerk 'anti-semite' name calling. qjs
