I have found the routing/traffic alert feature most useful when driving in Hikermor’s neighborhood (the greater Los Angeles area). One day when interstates 5, 405, and 10 were all choked up, it routed me across LA using lesser known highways and secondary streets. It saved me a lot of drive time and frustration.

I have a better solution -marry a Los Angeles native (like I did!). She has steered me through many traffic nightmares, employing lesser known side streets.

Come to think of it, she tells me where to go quite often.... grin
