Does anyone else do this? When I see something survival related that I could find usefull I write it down on a large index card with a number and put it in an index card box. I like to do it when I am looking through books, websites, or just see something in every day life. That way I have a quick reference guide with everything I have found usefull that I can look over and alter if need be. Like one card has all the uses I have found for liquid bandage on it, another has various methods of finding direction without a compass, another has a list of good tinders, another has uses for baking soda, another has the reasons why people tend to walk in circles and how to avoid it, as well as a lot of other things, some of which are even just simple camp tips i've found over the years. I think everyone should keep some sort of survival log like this, it is easy to forget simple things that could be very usefull, if you write them down in one place and read them/try them every once in a while you have a much better chance of remembering them.

Very Good Idea! I've "Begun" Thinking Along this Idea's Lines, -For our Area of Survival and Preparedness, -but Havn't yet Instituted it! A Nice "Redouble my Efforts" Reminder!

This is a Good and Great Idea for Many Other Fields of Life too! There I Often Enuff have Done so! [color:"black"] Paul810

You should turn that into a website.

Paul,

I tend to cut and paste from the internet. I've got an Excel file, and just keep adding sheets for new items. An electronic index card box, if you will. I just have to remind myself to back it up, something you don't have to worry about with a hard copy.

With an index file you do have to be careful of fire, water, leaving it on top of the car as you drive off.....

The electronic one needs a backup also, but electronic backups are a lot easier!
