Wow, will people ever realize that GPS apps (and probably dedicated GPS receivers too) are just mindless data bases with a pretty voice, and not a person who has your best interest at heart.

Here with the 101 closure, there have been considerable problems with people witlessly following their GPS, disregarding both official and unofficial signs telling them that various roads and routes are closed. One stated baldly "your GPS lies!"
