it's interesting. they keep trying for better ideas.
the thing about the bulletproof materials - if you buy a shield, ask the seller for a video of actual tests. Any reputable seller will have videos showing that their product stops all bullets (.e.g. all 9 mm pistol bullets, or all handgun bullets, or all AK-47 bullets). People who refuse to provide the test data and the videos - don't buy :-) I used to carry some of this stuff when I was driving rural roads in Africa (a long time ago). They do have problems with armed bandits. But the best solution is to ask the local police, and avoid roads that are known to be dangerous.
