hi everyone,

I just went to the drugstore and bought some plasters and some Betadine povidone iodine 10%. As I've read some of Doug's reviews in the first aid section, I tried to find some adhesive bandages that presented these attributes:

1. elastic knit cloth type instead of plastic
2. pads which don't extend all the way to the edges of the bandage so it can be sealed completely.

Then I tried to find Coverlet by Beiersdorf but I didn't find them. I searched for Curad and didn't find them either. But I found Elastoplast and I bought a box of "assorted fabric bandages" (with 12 bandages 19 x 65 mm; 6 bandages 30 x 65 mm; 5 knuckle 38 x 72 mm; 5 fingertip 50 x 44 mm and 2 patches 50 x 72 mm.)
I also found out that both Curad and Elestoplast are from Beiersdorf. What is your experience with Elestoplast? Are they a good choice for survivors?

Thank you.
BTW I gave up on pepper spray. It's too complicated.

Hi Frankie,

You can buy 0.75% Capsaicin Bear Spray from Defense Aerosols Inc. PO Box 8817 Victoria, British Columbia.

They are the manufacturer...I purchase it from http://www.davesarmysurplus.com in New Westminister BC.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Paula. I see, their products are called Bear D'fense and Dog D'fense, the latter being 20 gram of 0.35% Capsaicin.
How about BodyGard, it's 5% Oleoresin Capsicum:

If Capsaicin is the active ingredient in Oleoresin Capsicum, how much OC does it take to have 0.75% of Capsaicin? 10% maybe? Anyway, what makes me hesitate is the wind and rain factor and the fact that you have to shake it at least every month and I want it to be inconspicuous. (my idea was to have it everyday for personal protection against dogs and maybe two legs aggressors, but then again I think it's illegal... I would have to talk with a professional attorney and so on)

How did we get from Elastoplast bandaids to bear spray?

Anyway, my mother used Elastoplast when I was a boy and I have used it ever since; I think it's probably among the best on the market. The biggest drawback IMO is that it's quite painful to remove; in a survival situation, though, I consider being difficult to remove a definite plus

Isn't professional attorney an "oxymoron"?

I think it's more of a redundant phrase Bountyhunter. An oxymoron is an expression composed of combined contrasts like "thunderous silence" or "smart idiot". Unless you mean attorneys can't be professional...

When you are talking about money; "ditto".

Hi Aardwolfe,
There is a link however. Since I gave up on pepper spray I better stock up on good quality plasters! For lack of prevention I will cure.

Bountyhunter, I may sound a little bit serious at times but it's mainly cause my native language isn't english. I admit I do have a nerd side though.
