I received both from aeromedix today, along with the free box and a three pack of porta-johns. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The PSP is great, only one note. On the back it advertizes the contents list as 'viewable from the pouch so you can read it without shuffling through the contents'. However, my contents list was buried between the survival notes and the AL foil, a small error in detail of assembly. Otherwise the kit is exactly as detailed by Doug and provides a great core to build around. I emptied it and played with all of the contents and am very happy that all of these things can be purchased together. When I buit car kits for myself and my wife and the magnesium bar and glass mirror with aimer alone are far heavier than this whole kit and nearly half of its price. The simplicity and 'carriability' (size&weight) of this PSP is amazing. Even the fresnel lense is a little thinner and ligher than any I have bought. The kit is worth purchasing for the sparklite, whistle and mirror alone.

I've handled some griptilians but never purchased any. I am really pleased with the blade shape and heft. The face of the blade is still lined with machining gooves and there are some gouges along the spine, but those only come to notice under closer inspection. I bought the knife as a worker and not as a looker so that is all fine with me. The handle is fat enough that it may discourage me from carrying it in my pockets or IWB for my suburban everyday life. The spyderco military and sebenza have an advantage of 'thinness'. If that turns out to be the case I think the RSK1 will be stashed in my murse. Only giving it a try over time will tell. On the other hand it does provide that nice hand filling grip which seems to make the griptilian a very good 'user'

I do plan to polish out the first 1/2 or 2/3s of the blade so that it is smoother and highly reflective.

Thanks Doug for both projects. I hope they find many other happy users/purchasers to reward you for the hard work and make their everyday lives and adventures a little bit safer.

PS PaulR if you read this, my PSP is already a little bit bigger, Thanks to you!
