I've been following this one. If they can get the spillway stabilized prior to Wednesday's predicated rain, it might have a happy ending. Otherwise, I would hate to be holding a flood insurance policy for any property near the Feather River.

This is one of those situation where being able to evac in 2 minutes isn't just a precaution, but a full blown necessity

If this dam or Shasta Dam or Lake Isabel Dam goes, the effects will harshly ripple across the entire USA, in my opinion. I'm speaking economically, politically, and demographically as so many people will be displaced/dispersed.

I would normally have driven about seventy miles, and I am so glad I didn't. Freeway was clogged with debris, rivers were flooding, lots of wind, big surf. Good day to stay home. Storm has passed to the east and we are drying out.

Ditto. More rain went toward Hikermor than here but we received our share. Lots of wind and trees were knocked down. Fortunately, we haven't heard more bad news from Oroville.

All told, the rain wasn't that bad. It was heavy, but I don't think it got above 1/2" per hour. The wind on the other hand was doing ~30 mph and gusting. I had to stay off the freeways as I was getting shoved around enough on surface streets by it.

The only real problem was there a bunch of storm wrack left by the wind, and the glare from the wet asphalt made it difficult to see until you were almost on top of it. I didn't take any damage, but I could hear the skid plate scraping over the taller debris.
