Well, not a literal walkabout, but family and work and more have conspired to give me little or no spare time for a few years.

I see that it's been a little over 2 years since I last posted. Wow, long time. Still moderating (now and then) behind the scenes. In real life, I've been traveling quite a bit to places quite far away and quite unlike the USA. I've met some great people who have lived through some incredible, horrible, stuff in the not to distant past and I've seen how they live today. It was incredibly informative.

As a result, I've taken a step back and evaluated what, exactly, I was trying to accomplish with all my flashlights, paracord, fire starters and all the rest.
In short, for the overwhelming majority of people, I see much more value and utility in a working Smartphone, Charging Cables, Charged USB Battery Packs, Sterno, Canned Food, A well stocked first aid kit and plenty of water than I do in Fire Starters, Fishing Kits, Signal Mirrors and "live off the land" stuff like that.

So I'm going to try to stop in more often and participate a bit, with a perspective that's - perhaps - a little orthogonal to the views that folks here have.
