Seeking advice from all the DIY types!

I have a small porcelain base (approx. 1.5" x 0.5") -- you can display small objects on it. The base is hollow, and I want to fill it so it'd be heavier and more stable. Fortunately, there are two holes. I can slip lead pellets in. I figure I need to put some sort of glue in, and then fill it with lead pellets to hold everything in place, so the pellets won't rattle or fall out. What kind of glue would you use for this? I'm thinking of using wood glue, as epoxy is not viscous enough to fill all the crevices and the spaces between pellets.

If you happen to have some expanding foam insulation in a can like Great Stuff(tm) that should work. Be careful on the amount squirt in there. You could also melt paraffin and fill up the cavity.

Standard Disclaimers

The base could be filled with Wood´s alloy or Roses´s alloy. It can be poured in or filled in as chips and then melted in place. That will eliminate the crevices and add a little more weight.

I would probably try a simple white liquid all purpose glue like "Elmer's". You are not really worried about glue strength, but need a stable filling material. Pretty much anything that goes in as a liquid and drys solid should work.

Thanks, Max, for the suggestion of the alloys with a low melting point. They sound interesting to me, and I just read up a bit about such alloys!

I had an RC glider growing up that had lead shot or fishing weights glued into the nose to balance it. The lead was held in place with either modelers cement (rubber cement?) or hot glue. If you're dealing with a glazed surface, I would stay away from hot melt. I've had problems with it adhering to slick surfaces.

I would use paraffin candle wax, simple, cheap, low tech and non toxic. No great strength is needed.
