Looking for any input people have on transitioning to a full-time RV life. GF and I are preparing to sell the house and move into her RV full-time. May trade it in on a newer 5th wheel and then hit the road.

Wondering what experiences others with a preparedness mindset have had, suggestions, observations, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Gloria and I have been on the road since 1997.

First advice, don't buy another rig. Your needs will become apparent after a year or so. Do the necessary repairs to insure safety. Then head for Quartzsite AZ and spend the winter at the BLM long term areas there. (Google it). I learned a lot talking with folks while waiting in line for dump & water

It is a wonderful life and we have enjoyed it. However as with most things, you need to experience it before you really understand it.

Go for it.

Any specific questions????

Nomad.

My suggestion is to visit http://www.rv.net/forum/

They even have a section on "Full Time RVing."

There is an organization for full timers that provides info on issues like taxes, voting, an address etc. I don't know the name of it but you may find it on the rv.net site or search the net for it.

I'm not sure I would sell the house until I had been trying the full time life for awhile. You may find it is not for you.

+1 I'd suggest starting small. Say take the longest trip you've taken so far and add a week. Trip after that add again.
