Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN) has entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of DeLorme, a privately-held company that designs and markets consumer-based satellite tracking devices with two-way communication and navigational capabilities.

I hope this means good things, especially for inReach.

And the decreased competition won't have an adverse effect on prices, will it? What a silly idea!

I'll miss the state Gazetteers -- I still keep a few in my car because I'll never give up on hard-copy maps. Unfortunately the Benchmark atlases continue to be only for western states.
