I added a loop of cotton clothesline to my snow shovel. I used a constrictor knot near the blade and made the loop so it reaches to the handle. It makes shovelling SO much easier. You don't have to bend to grab the handle to toss a bladeful of snow. You can adjust the position of the lower knot along the wooden shaft and change the size of the loop to suit yourself. It made the clearing of the recent humungus snowfall much quicker and with less strain on the back. Try it!!!

The way I usually use a snow shovel, one hand is on the D-handle and the other on the shaft. I bend over to load the blade with snow and stand straight when tossing the snow off the driveway or walk. I am not understanding how this would help me.

Yeah, I'm a lift with your legs kinda guy, too many years lifting weights in the gym to use bad form with a snow shovel. Keep your back upright and there is much less strain on the spinal column.

With one hand holding the loop an d the other on the black handle you do nor have to bend over. This is much easier on your back

Yes. You maintain an upright position with any type of snow using this loop.

If the snow is too heavy, use a shovel with a smaller blade. A big blade is heavy and slow, small blade is light and fast. Which moves snow faster, depends on the snowtype and methode. But with heavy snow, a smaller blade has the advantage.

I remeber using those plastic blades on snow, which had thickend up. Lasted about two shoves...
