Back in September/October we hit the upick fields and got a load of spuds. They've been sitting in the garage since then. Last weekend I found some beef primal strip in cryo bags for $4.69 a lb, and frozen mixed veggies for 82 cents a lb. So we cranked out 50 pints of beef stew and restocked some vacant space on the shelves. I swapped out a few pints for an equivalent in canned moose meat and some frozen moose steaks. Good trade.
I had some buttermilk in the fridge that was reaching it's limits, so I made a big batch of biscuits up. They go well with the stew, and with fried spam and eggs as a breakfast sandwich.
I still have quite a bit of halibut and salmon, though not as much as I would've liked to have put up. None of it canned. Maybe this year we will get the haul. My opportunities are finally starting to solidify. After 3 years up here, it's about time.
Thanks to overstock from Halloween and now Christmas, we have plenty of candy. It will likely sit till next holiday season.
Trying to think of plans for garden this year. I need some rhubarb starts, but first I need to do something with the backyard. Rocks and stumps won't grow much.
