It seems to work fine. The watch frame is made of aluminum (non-magnetic). It's okay for general direction finding, which is about all I'll need it for. I don't think you'd want to use it to navigate in the woods. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Really, the main reason I got it was the carabiner clip. Hope that helps.
