"A divided Washington Supreme Court ruled last week that a Seattle law prohibiting people from carrying fixed-blade knives such as kitchen utensils for self-defense does not conflict with the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In a majority opinion written by Justice Charles Wiggins the court said Thursday that small paring knives are not covered by the amendment guaranteeing the right to bear arms."

So you can be arrested for carrying a "tool" because it is a weapon, but not a "weapon".

State Supreme Court: Paring knives not protected by 2nd Amendment

SEATTLE — A divided Washington Supreme Court ruled last week that a Seattle law prohibiting people from carrying fixed-blade knives such as kitchen utensils for self-defense does not conflict with the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In a majority opinion written by Justice Charles Wiggins the court said Thursday that small paring knives are not covered by the amendment guaranteeing the right to bear arms.

He called such knives a utility tool, not a weapon.
...
The case stems from a traffic stop in which Wayne Anthony Evans was arrested ... He was convicted of unlawful use of weapons.

Wait ... I thought you just said it was a utility tool, not a weapon. So how did you convict him of unlawful use of a weapon? If it was a weapon (a requirement to support this conviction), then why isn't it covered under the 2nd amendment, since, as you said, that covers weapons, not utility tools?

There's a good analysis of the Second Amendment implications of knife bans at http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=243&Itemid=1.

The key phrase here being "Seattle Law". They stopped making sense after all the californicators took it over and tore down the kingdome to put up an open stadium.

Never doubt the perpetual expansion of the influence of the foolish.
