A bit late perhaps as your choice seems to be made but have a look at Kellam Puukko knives - kellamknives.com in the US . Used the lLapp Puukko for years and switched recently to the Wolverine. Light, great fit in the hand and not too expensive.

The Wolverine , even if not a rip off, I am not sure is at the same quality of a Marttiini at same price level. Marttiinis are taken to the arctic.

You may get elsewhere a well made finnish "progression tempered" blade for some $12 and make a handle yourself, to your taste and fit.

Nice project for a winter weekend.
