Awhile back I got hooked on Zippos from their great ad campaign. There are obvious advantages to Zippos, but I quickly became sour on them because of fuel evaporation and the associated odor. I couldn't keep one ready for use in a survival pack because of this problem. Therefore I went back to packing disposables with flint type spark ignition (because piazo rarely works about 5000 ft.).<br><br>

I like the electronic disposable lighters too, for their improved water resistance over the standard flint and steel types. Guess the best thing to do, since most of us believe in redundant fire-starting methods, is to pack one of the smaller "mini" versions of each, one for water resistance and the other for altitude proofness and use as a sparker when you run out of fuel. :p<br><br>Stay safe,<br>J.T.
