Hi folk's

It's been quite a while since I last posted but I came across this fire starter and since I've been looking for something like it for awhile I thought I should share it.

I have not bought one yet although I do intend to get one so I can't say anything about the quality ect.

Also when I was trying to get some info on this product I came across this similar looking one, there's also a few other key chain/ring EDC items on the site although I haven't figured out how buy them.

Vargo also makes a titanium version of a flint sparker for about twenty bucks, and here's a link to a useful modification if you don't care for the original configuration: http://www.survivalresources.com/Articles/Shortening_Flint.html

I've seen that one around before though I don't like that side plate that holds the spark wheel in place, it seems like a potential weak spot in the design.

Here's a similar one for $4 on amazon. Decent reviews.

$5 off eBay (if you want to save $32 on Amazon's free shipping). Personally, I'd prefer a plain rod + good skills. These sparkers have too many parts to fail (or get ruined riding in your pocket), and a very small resource.

By the way, my current choice of EDC key chain lighter is Peanut Lighter http://www.countycomm.com/sslight.html Note the flat bottom base of that model - that's important, as allows hands free operation, wrapped with a piece of duct tape over the integrated O-ring - it holds the liquid fuel for very long time (3 years so far, checking every 6 month), have no exposed mechanisms to break or became soiled in your pocket, has a smooth shape, preventing entangling with other key chain items, takes the same flint size as the above sparker (I'm keeping a spare tucked inside the fuel compartment), produces good enough sparks when empty, the fuel soaked cotton ball inside is ready to use tinder for an extreme weather fire starting.
