I've been carrying one around every day in my pocket for several months now. I use it for short periods of time about every other day. It's still going strong and in good condition considering that it lives with a pile of keys in my pocket. I have it split ringed to my leatherman micra making retrieval from the pocket easier and it less likely to be dropped/lost.

The only thing that I've noticed is that the switch has intermittently started to act a little flakey. When switching it to the on position it will not always stay on and takes some fiddling with to get it to stay on. This could be from pocket lint making its way into the switch or maybe the contacts were jarred out of place. I haven't opened it up yet to investigate further. But then on most days the switch works fine.

Campmor had a great deal a while back (slight cosmetic imperfections that I could never find) and I ordered a pile of
them for family and friends for about $7 or $8 apeice. Still they generally are cheaper in price than the photons.

I have a photon II that I use backpacking. In my opinion the switch on the photon II is better, and the overall size is slightly smaller (fits better in my altoids tin). I haven't subjected the photon II to the same conditions as the pulsarII, so I can't say for sure that it would perform better. Come to think of it, I do remember having to fiddle with the photon II switch a time or two to get it to behave.

Overall, I'm happy with the pulsar II, it's a good little light, and only a little bit wish it was a photon II instead -- but the price was right.

While I'm on the subject...
I was out backpacking one weekend. It was a rainy, misty, almost foggy night, and I was sleeping under a 9x10 plastic tarp (Ray Jardine style). I had my photon II hanging up under the tarp, and I woke up in the middle of the night to find that it was ON, albeit dimly, but the switch was OFF. Moisture had invaded and shorted the switch -- battery life draining away while I was sleeping. Thinking it's time for a weatherproof model now or maybe an arc light.
