Does anyone have anything to say about this book by Paul Tarwell? Thinking about buying it and just wanted a second opinion...

Oh Yes!, Eagle, -I've had it for perhaps several years now, -and I Do Highly Recommend It!!!

It is Very Information Packed! Yet also Clear and Concise. Within the 31 Chapters, -It can Best be said, -That Things are Organized into Information Packed Boxes! There's a certain amount of "Color Codeing" that goes on. There are Many Very Clear and Informative Drawings! -Almost as Many Topics and "Boxes".

It is a Large Paperback, (At Least my Copy is), with perhaps a Slightly Water Resistant Spine and Front and Back Covers.

It's about 9 Inches High, 7 or 8 Inches Wide, and about an Inch or Slightly More Thick.

You already have the Title and Author. This Author also Appears to be his Own Publisher. Of Which he's Done a Top Notch, First Class Job.

Under Such, It says "Shelburne, VT", and "Green Valley, Ontario"

Within the First Page or Two, (Title Page, Etc), -Near the Bottom, -You'll Find a Small Box, -Which Gives a Phone and Fax Number by which you may Order the Book. (I Might in my Heart Like to Give it here! But Perhaps I'd be Inadvertently Treading onto Commercialism!) (Feel Free to PM me if you'd Like.)

My Copy is a 1996 Copyright, and Printed in Canada.

It's a 350 Page Book. Chapter One begins on Page 6. Text Goes up to and Includeing Page 346. The Last Several Pages are it's Index.

While Not your Heaviest Tome, -It is Moderately Heavy for it's Size. "Moderately", is a Key and Operative Word there!

I Remember Getting my Copy on Discount somewhere. (Some Quality Secondhand Bookstore). But an Original Price Tag of $24 Point .95, Exists on my Copy. (Mid to Late 90s, Remember). Whether that was Originally in U.S. or Canadian Dollars and Price, I Do Not Know. Of course a Book that Sells for X Amount in the U.S., -Usually Sells for X Plus Something, Up in Canada.

While No Great Tome, -and Certainly Not a Pocket Book, -It is a "Moderate Tome".

It's Extra Quality and Information is Such, -That you Might Want to Consider nevertheless Packing it away into your Pack. Especially for "Not So Survival", type Outings.

It's a Real Survival Gold Mine!

But in a Real Survival Situation and Such, -It's Weight and Bulk could Become a somewhat Undesirable Factor. Off the Top of my Head, -I'd say it might Weigh as Much as One to Several Typical Storebought Cans of Food.

Even if you Might Not Wish to Take It out into the Wilds with you, -for such Weight / Bulk Reasons, -*Get One for your Own Home Library!!!*,-I Can't Emphasize that Enough! It's Personally One of my Favorite, Top Notch Ones! One of the Best Ones Out There!

It's Quite a More Top Notch and Exceptional Work!, -in our Field! I Can, and Do!, Only Highly Recommend It!!!

Added EDIT NOTE,- I Notice in your Post you Mistakenly Say "Paul Tarwell" Wnen it's Actually "Paul TaWRell"! I Mention this Only to Avoid some Possible Search and Ordering Confusion! Good and Great Luck in Getting It!!!!! [color:"black"] eaglescout

Yes, I just got a copy a couple weeks ago and read it cover to cover while my wife was in the hospital undergoing gastric bypass surgery and while she was convalescing. It is a rather excellent book, though there are a few things missing.

There is a new revised 2006 addition. I highly recommend. Superbly illustrated and very comprehensive. This is a "must have" in your llibrary.

Turbo,

Barnes and Noble has the 2001 Edition for $24.95. Couldn't find a 2006 edition.

I found the 2006 edition at Costco for $$21.99. My wife is so impressed with the book that she wants one to keep in her vehicle. It equates to a single volume encyclopedia.

Did you notice in the 2006 edition that in the Conversion Formulas area on page 10 has a time chart, it goes from New Foundland to Hawaii but is missing the Pacific Time zone...I guess all of us in Washigton, Oregon & California are lost in time.

On a serious note: if that's all that's missing from the 1088 page gem that's pretty darn good !!!
