Once again (35+ years) I will be demonstrating net making, giving free net making lessons and displaying my traditional Pennsylvania Dutch nets at the
Goschenhoppen Historians Folk Festival
http://www.goschenhoppen.org/folk-festival.html
I will be there Saturday, August 8 only. Tony

That's really neat. I won't be able to be there but I hope one of our members can be there and write something about it.

I was only able to get a few photographs of the Folk Festival. Here are the only ones that were worth sharing.

You, Know some of those nets look awfully like filet netting. I wonder if they are just the same thing done on a different scale

I am familiar with filet lace which is small mesh netting upon which designs are embroidered. Older filet lace is done on hand netted material.
The nets shown here were all tied with the traditional sheet bend. It is the same knot as used in the filet lace only using a different technique.

Link to big net making section

go to the instruction section for how to do it. Also sections on tips and tricks of the trade, tools, books, photographs, projects and many other topics. I am the moderator so you can ask your net making questions there. Tony
