I don't know if you have heard of this yet but last year the Canadian built "hitchbot" hitchhiked his way across Canada and he is now coming to a State near you. Basically it is a robot with a GPS, camera, solar power and a voice module with a little bit of intelligence. When people encounter the bot, he encourages them to pick him up and transport him towards his destination - ultimately San Francisco. But along the way, this bot also wants to strike off a few locales off his bucket list to see. His Bucket List

Yeah, Philly - city of brotherly love; just not robot love!

I heard they retrieved what was left of the robot but hadn't decided if they wanted to continue the exercise in the US. I guess their goal of seeing how people would interact with a robot took a negative twist and not something they expected. It traveled across Canada and Germany and a few other areas but met its match with some hoodlums. (But seriously, this could have happened anywhere and isn't necessarily a black eye on Americans in general).

NBC reported that the remains were found in the Old City part of Philly. It's a pretty good neighborhood from what I hear. Go figure.

Frustrating. It only takes one, or a few, to bring us all down. It could have happened anywhere but it happened here. At least Hitchbot had a grand journey on its way to its early demise.
