a thread on another forum prompted me to bring out the Goal Zero 7w panel for a yearly check... the Fujicell charger I typically use for charging has a AAA as well as AA capability, but the GZ Guide 10 pack does not... I cut 3 coil sections of approximately .300" spring to use as spacers... not the best conductor, but worked quite well... the AAAs charged from about 1/4 charge as indicated to full in about 45 minutes... the higher capacity AAs take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours

Les, I have exactly the same Goal Zero set (got it about 6 years ago or so). The charger comes with the special insert piece for secure AAAs charging (it holds cells tight by their sides as well).

You have probably misplaced yours. Try to reach Goal Zero for a replacement. On other hand, your springs are much more compact to carry in the panel's pocket when not in use. However they are not very safe when you need to charge on the go.

Also, I'd recommend to use the special dedicated cable for charging AA/AAAs (it was supplied with mine as well), not the USB one as you do, as with later you are loosing some notable energy due to the unnecessary 5V (USB) voltage converter duty cycle.

One more tip - when storing the panel closed in your backpack, put a piece or two of paper towels between glass faces. That will protect them from otherwise unavoidable scratching while in motion. I've figured that a bit late myself.

And another one. I've got very nice hollow two piece AAA to AA adapters, http://www.amazon.com/Bluecell-Battery-Holder-Converter-Adaptor/dp/B0064IQ49I which one might find handy not only for charging:

By the way, what other thread you have mentioned? Cannot seem find anything related...

Alex... thanks for the information on the adapter... I'm pretty sure that I did not get one, as I typically put everything like that in the pocket.. will check with GZ... mine is not a "plus" version... I typically charge the Guide 10 with the "solar" plug, not the USB... I wanted to see what adding the second charger would do to the operation of the Fujicell charger... it has a graphic charge status window...the other thread was on the AR15.com site.. sunshine today was brutal
