A change of thinking on my part; I am adding a spare edc inside my GHB inside my car bag. Why? Redundancy. That and I have the extra gear so might as well have it handy in the car.

But isn't the EDC is supposed to be EDCed anyway, in the car or not? I'm loading my GHB wheeler to the car each time I expect I could end up going home (or other remote shelter) on foot, even when going car camping with a pile of dedicated camping gear already loaded.

Redundancy vs weight/size constrains.
The more you carry, the slower you are, the more you have to carry.

My BOB and GHB have back ups to my pocket EDC. I do not think this is a weight problem, as I can dispose of anything I don't really need in a given situation, to lighten the load. I do believe in redundancy to a reasonable extent. Also, I am rarely alone, and generally I am the only one prepared, so if something does happen, I can distribute the load.

I did just beef up my E&E kit. Other that a few added items, there is a little more carrying space for items that I might have a need for from the boat.
Note: now I have to do a new inventory.

I do believe in redundancy to a reasonable extent. This encapsulates my philosophy as well. It's easy enough for me to cache or ditch unneeded items to save weight. Additionally, items in my BOB are used for non-disaster, day-to-day "saves" like spare batteries, minor injuries, repairs, and so on.

My GHB was built with no assumptions regarding what gear I might have in my pockets at any moment. I can go into the back panel of the bag and find my typical EDC pocket carry right there, plus other gear I don't typically EDC but might be nice to have. Anything not needed in the moment will be left in the truck. If my normal EDC is intact then the extras in the bag are redundant -- not a bad thing for pocket carry.
Control your cognitive dissonance; don't make decisions based on possibly invalid assumptions made before the actual situation was revealed.

It is certainly easier to deal with redundancy rather than absence. I am particularly concerned with the question of availability, as in an earthquake. (I live in close proximity to a fault complex "of geological concern." It is sensible to have somewhat redundant supplies distributed and not rely solely on one source.

In the Army we did what was called cross loading, so nothing critical was concentrated in one place (including people) and could all be lost with one accident. Distribution of important supplies and tools is important.

And I'd only ever use or carry some of it - But I'll have a choice when I do. I've added more for my wife, too -- extra warm stuff. ( jacket, blanket, chem. heaters)
