A week before this event, another was targeted and 20+ people were killed. Taking security a bit more seriously , people asked women to stay home and not to come to Friday prayers (easier to control security in a predominantly male-ish society). The Isis guy did not know this bit of info (no women in the mosque), so his appearance as a woman in a veil raised immediate suspesion.

Two security volunteers were reported killed immediately because had their bodies were almost intact. Two others were not detected until later because their bodies were totally scattered. Bits and pieces of flesh were thought to be of the terrorist until it was realized later to be from two other guys helping the volunteer guards.

Until Tuesday evening (4 days later) there were calls to neighbors of the mosque to search around their homes for any human remains.

Safety advice have been circulated for "what to do in case of imminent blast" including laying flat on your stomache with arms around back of neck, and keeping mouth open.

Yesterday, I was sympathetic to the volunteers preparing for funeral ..etc. It was very hot and humid. The sun was merciless. I approached them to ask if they needed anything. I was thinking of buying for them a few dozen snacks and a few cases of water and juice. But I was given immediate and serious sign of "turn around", which I followed.

Horrible things like this bring out the best of people. They get together and help each other. However, it is short-lived.

People have assembled watch/guard groups, but we are starting to wonder for how long they will be going if nothing happens for weeks or months. Preparedness isn't popular no it is "fun" for most folks. We'll see how long this alerted mindset can be sustained.
