Animals do get caught in slides from time to time, just like people. I recall a few years back that in the spring some biologists found a whole herd of caribou (at least 143) that had been caught in an avalanche down on the Kenai Peninsula. That herd mentality will kill you.

What about the skier who made the track mentioned in the article?

The article dosesn't say so, but apparently no skier was caught. To my knowledge there are no reports of missing skiers in the area. Presumably the skier passed through the area before the slide.

The usual procedure is to count tracks going into slide vs tracks going out. If more go in than come out then you probably have a buried person.

That's why I prefer ice fishing.
