Sorry for the late reply - just got done with the tapes. Assuming the evac was a success, didn't the "solution" seem counterintuitive? I always thought that an earthquake was the release of built up pressure along a fault. Fusing the fault to prevent that release strikes me as akin to corking the relief valve on a steam loop - you just get a much more catastrophic release later on. I might be wrong though, I'm no geologist.
