That is the case in Alaska also. In Alaska, so long as you act within your training (within your "scope of practice") you are immune from civil liabilty.

Good Sam laws vary from state to state, and one should always be aware of the details in your state. In any area, it is always a good idea to maintain whatever level of training you have. Keep your certifications up to date. Do not act beyond your current level of training.

Somehow, this assemblage stretches the definition of EDC,which to me consists of the items I carry with me routinely, all the time, and everywhere.

I carry a backpack a lot, but not when getting groceries or shopping at Home Depot.

After years of on- and off-duty medical response in both urban and wilderness settings, I will say this:

1. The fear of litigation is vastly overblown.

2. Plenty of EMTs and paramedics give bad advice and are victims of severe cognitive bias. They only know their own experience, and they frequently misapply that to everyone else's situation. Crusty medics are some of the worst.

3. Remember that your loadout, and your litigation concerns, needs to take into account working on yourself and family/friends, not just strangers. This changes the equation.

4. Many of the comments at that LifeHacker site are ridiculous. See item #2 above.
