What to do in the end, depends on the goal.

- Able to do X in Y time.
- Just cardio-vascular fitness.
- Improve overall muscle strength (which prevents all kinds of pains. Does require other activity's than just walking.)
- etc.

General advice;
- Build up slowly, if you rush you will get injuries.
- Take enough recovery or your fitness will go backwards.
- Eat and drink right.
