A real live snake in the grass... http://www.vcstar.com/news/local-news/search-continues-for-venomous-cobra-in-thousand-oaks

A memorable quote: "The biggest snake in he world is the one in your tent..."

And you thought all we had in SoCal was earthquakes and wildfires

The latest word is that the dog is just fine. The LA Times has a picture...

Not sure how he can be serious one day and fully recovered the next...dry bite?

You'd think it must have been dry. Either that or they have an awesome antivenin for Cobra neurotoxins. But looking at that list, seems the antivenin in North America is for NA pit vipers. Would a neurotoxin AV be available as a routine in Thousand Oaks?

I understand they have a source located somewhere in Los Angeles. Of course Amgen is headquartered in TO - maybe they could whip up something on their coffee breaks.....

The cobra is no longer on the loose. Captured: One wily albino cobra

Edit: Cobra will be sent to San Diego Zoo Of note,
Quote:
...The cobra had intact venom glands and could have given a deadly bite....

The latest article on the cobra captured in Thousand Oaks. Venomous white cobra arrives at San Diego Zoo
Note that the reason San Diego was selected is because of the availability of the antivenom, SD being one of two zoos that have it.
Quote:
...Now, the snake is at the San Diego Zoo mostly for one reason.

"We are one of only two zoos that I know of in the United States that have the antivenom for this particular species," said Kim Lovich, the curator of reptiles for the San Diego Zoo....
So the antiV is very not common. Must've been a dry bite...
